Alexander McQueen became a fashion icon early on in his career. In his teen years he was already designing for Mikhail Gorbachev and Charles the Prince of Wales. In 1996, he was named the head designer of Givenchy. This was a shock to most people because he succeeded John Galliano who was also in line for the job.
